After five years of writing the Flower City Fashionista blog, and even adopting the title as a pseudonym, I’ve decided that Flower City Fashionista has become so much bigger than me.
What began as an outlet for me to share my love for Rochester’s local fashion scene has evolved into a social media campaign to promote the #shoplocalroc spirit.
#FlowerCityFashionista is more than a blog. It’s a hashtag with a mission of launching a movement.
This hashtag campaign is about loving, appreciating and patronizing local boutique owners, businesses, designers, and makers.
Do you love local? Do you want to share fab finds and favorite haunts? Do you want to look good and feel good while making a profound impact in your community with the power of your dollar?
Then YOU, my dear, are already a #flowercityfashionista.
How can you join the #flowercityfashionista party?
Shop local. [duh!]
Get social. Use the hashtag #flowercityfashionista with a photo of a local purchase or shopping story on Facebook or Instagram to spread the love of local shop owners, boutiques, artisans and businesses.
Share. Share this page. This campaign. Your pledge. Your #ShopLocalRoc love and fab local finds.
Snag a great dress at Peppermint? Snap a selfie and tag #flowercityfashionista.
Get THE hottest swimsuit of the season at Embrasse Moi? Tag that pic of you out on the boat in your new duds #flowercityfashionista.
Score a great necklace from a local maker at the Brainery Bazaar? Step into retro nirvana at Jane Vintage? Spy a sick tee at JBRD? Rocking some adornment from Interstellar Love Craft or Inner Loop Design? You guessed it! Tag #flowercityfashionista and spread the #shoplocalroc love.
Let’s put our money where our mouth is, but more importantly, let’s put our money where our heart is: in this special little city we call home and with the wonderful people we call neighbors.
